About Arta

An authentic, rural Mallorcan town

Artá has been relatively untouched by tourism, although the Tuesday morning market, famous for its local pottery and basket weaving, attracts visitors. Artá´s Gothic-style, santuary of Sant Salvador is one on its icon landmarks, standing on top of the Calvary Hill. Overlooking the town, the panoramic views from the church reach as far as the coast. The nearest beach is Cala Ratjada, around 15 minutes away by car. To the north of Artá is the Llevant natural park a wild, hilly area with a dramatic coastline. Inside stands the Ermita de Betlem, founded by monks in 1805, complete with a solar clock, a rose window and an ancient water mill. A steep climb to the chapel, but well worth it for the views. The Caves d´Artá are one of the biggest attractions. These thousand year old caves are a spectacular sight with various natural rooms created and adorned with countless stalactites and stalagmites. We also deliver and collect from Palma Airport
